Individually, these systems are fairly standard. Integration is what turns them from a pile of separate installations into a single, coordinated infrastructure that shares data and can be monitored, managed, and audited from one place.

In a properly integrated setup, an access control breach can automatically pull up the relevant camera feed. A fire alarm trigger can unlock designated exit doors and push an announcement through the PA system without anyone touching a switch.  It scales down fine. A single retail unit or a small office obviously doesn’t need the same architecture as a mixed-use tower, but even a modest site benefits from having CCTV, access control, and fire systems talking to each other rather than running as separate installs.

Yes, in most situations, the existing CCTV and access control hardware can be incorporated into an integrated system without the entire system being replaced, so long as the equipment is relatively new and compatible. However, the issue is mostly with the infrastructure wiring or cabling.

 It really depends on the scope. A single-floor office fit-out might be a matter of weeks, while a full commercial tower with fire, BMS, security, and cabling integrated from the ground up can run several months. We usually give a realistic timeline once we’ve seen the site and the existing infrastructure.

Not automatically  but it makes staying compliant much easier, since the systems that regulators care about most (CCTV, access control) are part of a documented, coordinated setup rather than isolated installs. Compliance still needs to be designed in deliberately, not assumed.

Ideally the same contractor who designed and installed it, or at minimum a provider who understands how the systems were configured to work together.
